Ski Resorts Nearest to Seattle

Located on the fringe of the Cascade Mountain Range, Seattle is situated near several high-quality ski resorts. While there are none located in Seattle proper, a short drive can land you at several different ski destinations. The high precipitation levels of the Pacific Northwest make for large snowfalls in these ski destinations. The Summit at Snowqualmie, Stevens Pass, Crystal Mountain and Mount Baker are located within a few hours of Seattle and offer some of the best skiing in the country.

    • The Summit at Snoqualmie is the closest ski resort to Seattle. The Summit is conveniently located just 50 miles from Seattle. It offers night skiing and is also known for its rugged back-country terrain. This resort has 1,916 acres of terrain and tops off at 2,280 vertical feet. While most of the terrain is geared toward intermediate and advanced skiers and snowboarders, The Summit also offers lessons and has some beginner terrain.

    • Stevens Pass is located 70 miles from Seattle. It has 1,125 acres of terrain and is serviced by 10 lifts. It offers 1,125 acres of terrain and 1,800 vertical feet. Stevens Pass caters to all levels of skiing and snowboarding, and offer lessons for all abilities.

    • Eighty miles away and situated in the shadow of Mount Rainier, Crystal Mountain boasts 2,600 acres of terrain and 3,100 feet of vertical. Crystal Mountain is the largest ski area in Washington.     • Mount Baker is known for getting the most snowfall in North America. It is located 90 miles from Seattle and is home to the deepest powder in the region. Mount Baker offers 1,000 acres of skiing terrain and 1,500 feet of vertical. Skiers and snowboarders of all levels can enjoy Baker, and lessons are available. Enthusiasts prefer Mount Baker to other mountains because of its epic amounts of snowfall.
