How to Attach a Water Ski Rope to a Boat

The way you attach your water ski rope to your boat is important due to the fact that connecting it improperly can create a dangerous situation, causing the rope to come off the hook on the boat. Attaching the rope is actually a very simple process that can be done in a few minutes and will give you the added satisfaction of knowing that the rope is secure and dependable.

Instructions

    • 1

Locate the metal tow ring that is located on the back or your boat and test the tow ring by pulling on it to verify that it is securely attached to the boat. The tow ring should have a curved finger on top to hook your rope to.

    • 2

Find the loop at the end of your tow rope and check it to confirm that the rope is safe to use. Hold the loop in one hand and grab the rope about 1 foot away from the loop in the other hand.

    • 3

Double up the rope in your hand that is opposite of the loop in the tow rope and make a loop by holding the doubled rope with about 6 inches of loop sticking out. Feed the loop that you just made through the first loop in the end of the tow rope.

    • 4

Feed the new loop through the tow ring on the end of the boat and place the end of the new loop over the top of the curved tow finger.

    • 5

Hold the rope onto the curved finger with one hand and pull on the tow rope with the other hand so that the loop tightens around the metal finger. Your water ski rope is now securely attached to your boat.
