How to Customize a Wrestling Singlet
Instructions
-
Retail Customization
-
1
Create a sketch of what design or designs you'd like to have applied to your wrestling singlet.
-
2
Scan your design into electronic form or make copies so that you'll retain a duplicate of what you send in.
-
3
Purchase your singlets from a retailer that offers customization; submit your sketched design.
T-Shirt Shop
-
4
Sketch or photograph the subject of your design. Make sure to include notes on colors, size and any other details of how you'd like it to ultimately appear.
-
5
Take your singlet, new or used, to a T-shirt shop that does custom T-shirts, and ask them to screen print or embroider a design on the singlet for you.
-
6
Expect to pay a fee per singlet and also possibly a set-up and design fee.
Professional Artist
-
7
Sketch or draw the design you'd like to have applied to your singlet. You could also take a photograph of something--say, a paw print or an animal--that you'd like to have added to the singlet.
-
8
Hand your singlet or singlets over to a professional airbrush artist along with your sketches or photographs.
-
9
Except to pay a higher fee per singlet to customize them by airbrush as opposed to screen printing or embroidery.
Do It Yourself
-
10
Launder the singlet and let it dry. While it's drying, cut a stencil for your design out of cardboard or poster board.
-
11
Lay the singlet out with newspaper or cardboard between the front and back layers to prevent paint bleed-through.
-
12
Apply your stencil to the singlet and airbrush or apply fabric paint through the stencil onto the singlet. If you need to apply more than one color of paint, layer them one at a time. Change stencils between colors if necessary.
