How to Customize Track Singlets

Go to a track and field meet and you see athletes in skintight gear known as singlets. Singlets are made from high-tech nylon or synthetic fabric designed to breathe and dissipate moisture from sweat. Most track and field clubs or teams use a design representing their team on the singlet. Because the chemicals used to "sublimate" the design into the singlets are dangerous and highly caustic, it is not practical to do the job yourself. However, design you custom singlets through graphics clothing companies to get the desired logos and imprints onto your singlets.

Instructions

    • 1

Log on to any number of online custom sublimation companies that specialize in imprinting track and field, triathlon and bicycle garments. Examples include Voler, Louis Garneau and F2R.

    • 2

Download the design template or use the online version, depending on the company you select to do the job. If you have a design already to use, follow the instructions for uploading to the company you select. For example, one company may request the design in .jpg format, while another may ask for it in a .pdf file.

Design your own singlets using the online templates should you not have an existing design. Look at the mock-up on the screen upon completion. Companies allow custom colors, text and logos to be sublimated onto the clothing.

    • 4

Order the singlets and wait for the sample, imprinted singlet to arrive for your approval prior to placing the complete order. Check the singlet for imperfections, color coordination and that the logos or text are correct. Approve the design or send it back for revisions.

Place your order for the desired quantity of singlets. As a general rule, the higher the quantity ordered, the lower per-unit cost for the singlets.
