How to Design a Dirt Track
Instructions

1
Fill a wheelbarrow full of loose dirt using a shovel and transport it to where you wish to begin designing your dirt track.
-
2
Dump large amounts of dirt in the area where you wish to build jumps or mounds. Use a shovel to scoop the dirt out of the wheelbarrow and pile it onto the track. Place piles of dirt in all areas of the track where you wish to design jumps.
-
3
Use the bottom end of the shovel to pack down the piles of dirt. Hit the face of the jump with the bottom of the shovel to pack and shape the jump. Round off the jump or mound so it doesn't have any flat spots.
-
4
Pack down the landing side of the jump using the shovel. Make the grade of the landing side twice as long and twice as wide as the jump side.
-
5
Spray the dirt jump with a hose to add water to the dirt. Adjust any part of the jump that was weakened by the water using the shovel and your hands to smooth out any rough spots. Allow the dirt to dry. Once the dirt hardens it will become hard and safe to ride on. Repeat this process around your track to design other jumps and obstacles.
