How to Do a Swedish Fall in Cheerleading

Cheerleaders, like dancers, sport their own competitions. The moves that a cheer squad performs gains the team points proportional to the complexity and how well the squad executes the moves. Many cheer routines incorporate the pyramid position, where one or more people are supported by those under them. One of these moves, classified as an intermediate move, is called the "Swedish Falls" pyramid.

Instructions

    • 1

Face forward, with one person standing on each side, left and right, facing you. Ask another person to stand in front, face to face with you, and another to stand behind and to your left.

    • 2

Place your hands on each shoulder of the person in front. The front person places her hands under your armpits, grasping the side of your body.

    • 3

Ask the back person to grab both of your feet and each person beside you to support your middle. Push yourself against the front person's shoulders as the supporters raise you above their heads.

    • 4

Lift your right leg into the air, perpendicular to your body. Lift your head and look forward, expanding your chest. Allow the two middle supporters to drop away. Hold the position for a count of four or more.

    • 5

Bring your leg down and roll to your right. The front and back person must support you as you roll. A group of three or more catch you as with any other fall, one each supporting your head, middle and legs.
