Cheerleader Recognition Ideas

If you want to come up with ideas to recognize the hard work and dedication of an individual cheerleader or even for an entire squad, the process doesn't have be to difficult or time consuming. You might want to consider creating a recognition process that you can use in the future when your team, or school, wants to acknowledge the achievements of your squad's members. It is also a good idea to organize an assembly at your school for presentations.
  1. Badges and Certificates

    • A badge that can be added to a uniform can be the ideal way to recognize a cheerleader's efforts on behalf of her team and school. Certificates can be another appropriate way to show a recognition of achievement by a squad member. You can use a basic graphics program to design your badge or certificate. There are a variety of programs that are available for purchase (as well as free software) that can be used, dependent on your skill level. Whether you have never used a graphics program or you're a more experienced designer, there is likely a program that can fit you specific needs and budget.

Another type of acknowledgment for cheerleaders are trophies. You may wish to design a trophy that depicts a cheerleader in mid cheer or another appropriate image.

    Gifts that Highlight Achievements

    • A pendant, bracelet or other type of gifts can make the perfect symbol of recognition for an individual cheerleader, such as the squad leader, or for the whole squad at the end of a season. You may wish to have the jewelry specially created by a jeweler or other craftsman, or you may want to select an item that can be inscribed. If you are planning on presenting more than one item or you know that you will be presenting the item again in the future to squad members, it might be a good idea to buy a number of the same items, such as a specially inscribed pendant with the name of the team and a motto on it, so you can get a bulk price.

    Scholarships and Other Awards

    • Another form of recognition is a scholarship or similar type of award. You may wish to present the recipient with a scholarship to help her with meeting tuition and fees as she pursues avenues to further her academic career. Or you might want to present another type of financial award that can be used to help an individual achieve other goals. For example, if you know the individual plans on attending college but doesn't have a computer, a financial award that provides for the purchase of a computer can be a great way to show recognition and help the recipient as she moves on in her educational pursuits.
