1
Purchase a blank T-shirt in a color that is appropriate to the uniform of the football team for which you'll be cheering. For example, if your child's high school team wears red jerseys, buy a red T-shirt or sweatshirt.
-
2
Choose a theme to adopt for your shirt. If you're cheering on your son, add his name, number and position to the shirt. If you're cheering for the team in general, add the team's name and logo, and the names of your favorite players.
-
3
Sew fabric numbers onto the front and back of the shirt if you want to make your shirt look like a jersey, then sew letters over the number on the back to spell the name of your favorite player or your child. You can buy numbers and letters at craft and sporting goods stores. You can also use iron-on numbers and letters.

4
Decorate your shirt with gel paint or markers, depending on the look you're trying to achieve. If you're not comfortable with sewing crests on the shirt, use paint instead. With gel paint or markers, your possibilities are endless. Add your favorite players' names down one sleeve, paint the team's logo onto the front of the shirt, write a slogan across the back -- or try all of the above.
