      Buy a plain helmet with an attached face mask from a local sporting goods store. This is the easiest way to get a face mask. You will use this face mask in place of the face mask attached to your team's helmet.

      Remove the face mask from your new helmet with a screw driver. Wash the face mask in order to remove any type of dirt before moving on to decorating.

      Paint your face mask with any color of all-weather paint. Use all-weather paint because of the varied game conditions where you will be playing. Use two coats for each side of the mask. Allow the mask to dry.

      Add any decals that you might want to the face mask. Place the decals on the lower rungs of the mask so they don't interfere with your line of sight.

      Complete your face mask by adding a layer of lacquer over the paint and decals. This will help ensure that the decals and paint stay in place while you are playing.
