1
Buy supplies at a craft store. Take along a uniform or other sample of school colors to get as close a match as possible. Make sure the holes in the beads are big enough for the string.
-
2
Set a time and place for making the bracelets and advertise it among those whom you want to come.
-
3
Use a spacious table with a smooth surface. Put out the beads in boxes by color, size, shape or whatever organization you find practical.
-
4
Measure your wrist with the tape measure. Add 4 inches to that number.
-
5
Use the tape to measure a length of string equal to the wrist size plus 4 inches. Cut the string.
-
6
Tie a knot in the string about 2 inches from one end. Make a mark with pen or pencil about 2 inches from the other end.
-
7
Begin stringing the beads from the marked end of the string to the knotted end. Start simply by alternating beads of your school colors (for example green, gold and white).
-
8
Try some variations. String gold- or silver-toned beads until you get to the center of the string, then put on the school colors. Spell out your school initials or a brief slogan (for example, "Go Bears") with letter beads in the center or at one end.
-
9
Add decorations or accents. Put a charm of your school mascot next to the knot, then tie a knot or a put a bead of a different shape or size on the string on either side of your school colors, initials or slogan. Make up your own variations.
-
10
String the beads until you reach the mark you made. Wrap the bracelet around your wrist, holding the string at the knot and the mark to see if it is too tight or too loose. Add or take off beads until the fit is comfortable.
-
11
Tie another knot at the mark end of the bracelet. Tie the ends together and trim them, but not too short. Use a square knot to keep it secure.
-
12
Wear the bracelet whenever you want, but make sure to include "school spirit" days, when everyone wears theirs.
