Body Painting Ideas for the Steelers

Show your team spirit on game day by using black, gold and white body paints to create Pittsburgh Steelers team apparel, symbols and slogans. You can also transform yourself into characters that are individual to the team. The idea is to get recognized while in the stands. If you're lucky, you might get projected on the video wall or scoreboard at Heinz Field, which is the Steelers' home stadium.
  1. Team Colors and Logo

    • Paint a uniform on your body with the Steelers' colors and logo. Black, gold and white are the team's official colors. Get an assistant to paint gold bars just above your elbows, and large gold numbers on your chest and back. The remaining of your chest, back and arms should be painted black. You can also have someone paint the Steelers logo on your chest and back, using gold, red, blue and black paint.

    Championships

    • The Pittsburgh Steelers have won the Super Bowl six times, in 1975, 1976, 1979, 1980, 2006 and 2009. Use these wins as inspirations for body painting ideas. To commemorate the Steelers' 2006 win, have someone paint "Steelers: 2006 Super Bowl Champs" on your chest and back in gold paint. Each person in a group of four people can commemorate the Steelers' 2006 win by displaying one digit in the year of the win on their chest and back. When the four stand together, it would read "2006."

    Mascot and Cheerleaders

    • Steely McBeam was introduced in 2007 as the official Steelers mascot. Transform yourself into him by painting black overalls on your chest and back. Paint a gold shirt underneath the overalls. To complete your look, wear black shorts, gold and black work boots and a black hardhat. The Steelers no longer have cheerleaders, but you can transform yourself into one. Paint on a gold cheerleader jumpsuit with a black shirt underneath. Carry pom-poms or a loudspeaker to complete your look.

    "Terrible Towel" and Pop Culture

    • The Terrible Towel is the official rally towel of the Steelers. As a Steelers body painting idea, paint a large yellow towel with black lettering on your chest and back. The song "Black and Yellow" by rapper Wiz Khalifa is an ode to the city of Pittsburgh and the Steelers. As an idea that's a play on the song, paint one half of yourself black and the other half gold (yellow). Make a sign that reads "Black and Yellow" to wear around your neck using black and yellow construction paper and string.
