How to Make a Sports Basketball Spirit Sign

When your basketball team is down, nothing raises its spirits more than a well-made and clever sign. While you can always have your sports basketball spirit sign designed and printed by an office supply store, you can also create your own sign or banner to show team support by using a large sheet of vinyl or, for smaller signs, poster board.

      Sketch out a design for your basketball spirit sign or banner. Sketching out your design will give you a chance to refine your design, making sure you have enough space for each element of your design. Consider developing your design along the lines of a particular theme, such as homecoming.

      Buy the vinyl or poster board in the size that you need. It is important to select a size you can work with. A handheld sign needs to be small enough for one or two people to hold up, while a vinyl sign will need a location you can hang it from.

      Draw out your design on the surface. You may also want to purchase or create your own stencils for certain elements of your overall sign's design, especially if you are creating a very large spirit sign or banner. You may, for instance, want a stencil of a player dunking a basketball or letter stencils.

      Spray areas of color with spray adhesive and sprinkle glitter on them. Let this dry.
