How to Get to Be a Mascot in Middle School

1
Talk to the coach to find out try-out times for the mascot. This gives you time to improve your skills prior to try-outs. It also makes the coach aware that you are interested in being a mascot.
-
2
Search your town for classes that will give you the necessary skills. Look for mascot training classes. If there are none, try a gymnastics or cheer class instead. Lean great moves and improve your physical health.
-
3
Work with some of the cheerleaders and sports players. Ask for their opinions and tips on what a good mascot should do. Ask a cheerleader to teach you a cheer or two, which could come in handy during the try-out or at games.
-
4
Watch sports games on T.V. to see what popular mascots are doing. Mimic moves from the pros, like the NFL's Big Red and Freddie Falcon.
-
5
Gather some props and come up with a few good routines. Mascots should get the crowd fired up and keep the enthusiasm high. Cream pies, funny dances, music, toying with cheerleaders and using an array of props can all be incorporated into a mascot routine.
-
6
Put your skills to use during the try-out. Exude confidence and keep the crowd roaring.
