1
Attend a team summer camp. There are many camps available to junior high and high school-level players that allow teams to sign up and participate together. If the team can afford it, try to do an overnight camp--this will add to building team unity, as it allows time to bond outside of basketball activities as well.
-
2
Participate in a summer basketball league. Summer games are more relaxed, which allows players and teams more freedom to expand their comfort zone. The repetition of playing together in the summer will yield strong benefits during the season.
-
3
Develop player-driven workouts. Team captains can get together with the players and develop a workout completely on their own based on the goals of the team. By taking ownership and not depending on coaches to lay it out for them, the team will bond together and push each other to be their best.
-
4
Participate in a charity event as a team. It is a truly bonding experience for the team to come together for the benefit of others. They will see the impact they can make and bring a very positive spirit to the team. A great example would be to participate as a team in the American Cancer Society "Relay for Life."

5
Throw a barbeque for coaches and parents. Show your appreciation for your coaches and parents and build team unity at the same time. The players can plan and execute the entire barbeque.
-
6
Go whitewater rafting. While being a lot of fun, it also requires teammates to work together to navigate the rough waters. This activity will build lasting memories and trust with the team.
