How to Use Ski Equipment

Ski equipment includes outerwear and safety gear. Top-rated skiing gear is designed to provide maximum protection and warmth, while providing a full range of motion. The safest ski gear features a durable construction that helps to prevent serious injuries during high-speed crashes and collisions. For skiers of all ages and skill levels, the helmet is an essential piece of equipment. According to the skiing experts at "Powder" magazine, top-of-the-line models of the ski helmet feature internal pads made from EPS foam as well as a ventilation system for increased airflow.

Instructions

    • 1

Insert your legs into a pair of breathable snow skiing pants. Fasten the pants around your waist using the button or buckle. Lower the Velcro storm flaps over each of the corresponding zippers.

    • 2

Pull an insulated shirt over your head to maintain your core temperature.

    • 3

Place your feet into a pair of properly sized ski boots. Stand up to shift your heels to the back of the boots. Starting at the top, tighten the specialized ratchet system to ensure the boots fit snugly.

    • 4

Slide your arms into a breathable ski jacket. Fasten the snaps of the snow skirt to prevent snow from entering through the bottom of the jacket. Zip the vertical zipper of the jacket and cover it with the corresponding storm flap.

    • 5

Lower the snow skiing helmet onto the crown of your head. Place your index and middle above your eyebrow to ensure the helmet doesn't fit too low on your forehead. Align the safety straps of the helmet around your ears.

Fasten the buckle of the safety straps under your chin. Shake your head from side to side to test the fit of the helmet. Try on a smaller sized model if the helmet slides across your head during the fitting test.

    • 6

Loosen the elastic strap of your ski goggles. Stretch the strap around the back of the ski helmet while aligning the goggles over your eyes. Tighten the strap if necessary to guarantee a snug fit.

    • 7

Insert your hands into a pair of skiing gloves or mittens. Tighten the drawstring to prevent snow from entering through the base of your gloves or mittens.

    • 8

Place your snow skis on the ground. Put the toe of each boot into the front of the binding. Push your foot down to fasten your feet to the tops of the skis. Lift each ski one at a time and gently shake it back and forth to ensure that your boot is secure in the binding.

Insert your wrists up through the fabric loops of the ski poles, then down and around the pole. Push off the ground with your skis to move forward. Push the tips of the poles into the snow for increased leverage.
