1
Place the board on a table, workbench or other flat surface -- with the bottom facing up.
-
2
Use a wax scraper to remove the old wax from the bottom of the board. Moisten a clean rag with base cleaner or alcohol, and wipe down the surface of the board.
-
3
Plug in the iron, and set the temperature to medium. Once it has warmed, test the temperature by placing a small piece of board wax against the hot surface. The wax should melt without smoking. If smoke appears, reduce the temperature slightly.
-
4
Cut a small chunk of wax, and hold it against the warm iron, taking care to keep fingers away from the hot surface.
-
5
Hold the iron over the board surface. When the wax begins melting, drip it liberally onto the board surface, paying extra attention to the edges. Melt enough wax onto the snowboard to coat the entire surface thinly.
-
6
Apply the warm iron to the board surface and smooth the wax by moving the iron back and forth in long, smooth motions. Keep the iron moving at the same speed, and avoid letting it rest in one spot. Once the wax appears even and smooth, allow the board to dry for at least 30 minutes.
-
7
Ensure the wax is cool and dry to the touch, and scrape the surface of the board with a sharp scraper -- using long, smooth and even strokes. Continue scraping until the board is left with a thin, smooth and even film of wax.
-
8
Use a buffing pad to polish the newly waxed surface. Buff the board surface until the wax has a soapy, filmy texture.
-
9
Brush the board surface for 15 to 20 strokes with a nylon board brush, working from tip to tail.
