How to Fill Gashes in a Snowboard
Snowboards become damaged over time due to regular wear and tear; running over small branches or rocks will scratch as well as dull the bottom and the edges of the board. Large gashes often occur at the end of the season when the snow is melting and more rocks are jutting out from underneath or when riders board across harsher terrain. Repair gashes as quickly as possible; they can affect your glide and even rust or de-laminate the core of your board.

1
Scrape the gash with a metal scraper to cut out any debris or strings that protrude from it.
-
2
Heat the end of the plastic stick with a lighter until it turns into a wax-like substance and begins burning on its own. Allow the stick to drip into the gash until you line the bottom with the plastic. Wait for this layer to dry, which takes about 30 minutes, then repeat to add another layer on top. Continue until you've sealed the gash.
-
3
Scrape the newly applied plastic until it is level with the rest of the board.
