DIY Snowskates
Snow skating (sometimes spelled snowskating) is a sport which allows for skateboard tricks to be performed on snow. Snow skates come in a variety of styles. One of the most popular and simple is the deck design. This involves a modified skateboard deck which has no trucks or wheels attached. By using a slick bottom to glide over the snow, this style of snow skate can provide the rider with a smooth transition from skateboarding to snow skating. With a little effort, any skateboard can be modified into a deck-style snow skate.

1
Use a wrench or skate tool to secure one of the eight bolts attaching the trucks to your skateboard deck. Remove the screw with a screwdriver and repeat for remaining screws. This means that you are left with only your skateboard deck.

2
Sanding the bottom of your skateboard deck allows you to travel farther and faster. Sand the bottom of the skateboard deck. This will remove all the grooves, scratches, and chips accumulated on the bottom. You want as smooth a surface as possible to reduce friction between the deck and the snow. If you are using a new skateboard, sanding is unnecessary.

3
Wax the bottom of your skateboard deck. The snowboard wax will reduce the amount of friction between the deck and the snow, allowing you to travel farther on your snow skate.
