Homemade Freestyle Ramps

Freestyle BMX consists of several disciplines such as flatland, dirt jumping, street and half pipe. Freestyle dirt jumpers and half pipe riders utilize homemade ramps to perform tricks and maneuvers. Ramps found in BMX parks often feature a concrete or wooden construction. Dirt jumpers commonly build outdoor courses that feature a series of inclined dirt ramps. Create your own homemade freestyle ramps using dirt to avoid spending money on costly building materials.

Locate an outdoor riding area that features a smooth terrain. Place the sharp edge of the shovel head against the ground. Press down on the base of the shovel head with the bottom of your shoe. Lower the shovel handle to dislodge the dirt from the ground. Place the dirt into the bin of the wheelbarrow.

Repeat the digging process until you have filled the bin of the wheelbarrow. Lift the handles of the wheelbarrow to roll the dirt to the ideal ramp building location. Lower the left handle to dump the dirt onto the ground. Utilize the head of the shovel to shape the mound of dirt.

Create a ramp that features a steady incline. Pour a little amount of water over the top of the BMX ramp. Lower the back of the shovel head onto the moistened ramp. Rub the shovel head up and down to smooth the ramp face. Throw a small amount of dry dirt over the top of the ramp.

Place the base of the tamp onto the face of the ramp. Press down on the handle of the tamp to pack down the dry dirt. Pour a little amount of water over the top of the freestyle ramp.
