Instructions to Build a Freestyle FMX Ramp

While most recreational motorcyclists prefer a smooth asphalt terrain, freestyle motocross riders opt for rugged off road trails. The freestyle motocross dirt bike features a stripped down design that assists in trick riding techniques. Freestyle motocross ramps can be both natural and artificial. Freestyle motocross riders utilize sand dunes as a natural jump ramp. Dirt Wurx USA recommends using a small bulldozer known as a backhoe to aid in the ramp building process. Shape the ramp by hand using a few simple tools.

Instructions

    • 1

Drive your backhoe to the designated ramp building site. Use the backhoe controls to insert the bucket into the dirt. Dump the bucket load of dirt onto the ground to begin the ramp building process.

    • 2

Repeat the digging and dumping procedure to create a large mound of dirt. Scrape the flathead shovel against the dirt mound to build an inclined ramp. Pour water over the sloping ramp face.

    • 3

Compact the wet dirt using the head of a tamp. Throw a shovel full of dry dirt over the ramp face. Push the tamp against the dry dirt to solidify the ramp.

    • 4

Allow the ramp to dry for 30 minutes to one hour. Drive your motorcycle up the ramp slowly to guarantee it can support your weight. Cover the ramp with a waterproof tarp when you get done riding.
