1
Purchase the plywood necessary. You can use nails to put the dirt board ramp together but screws are more secure. Buy a box of 2-inch number 6 galvanized screws. Make it galvanized so it doesn't rust. Measure off 2 feet from the top of the long side of the plywood sheet. Use a ruler to mark straight across. Cut the section off using a circular power saw.
-
2
Use a straight edge to make a line from one corner of the 2-foot-by-4-foot piece of plywood. This line should cut the rectangle into two equal pieces. These are the sides of the dirt board ramp. Cut five 22 1/2-inch-long boards from the 10-foot 2-inch-by 4-inch piece of wood.
-
3
Cut the remaining plywood down to a 2-foot-by-4 1/2-foot piece. This is the top of the ramp. Lay it on the ground and measure in 3/4 inch from each side and mark. Put one of the 22 1/2-inch boards across the end of the board with the edges touching the mark that you just made. Bar clamp the board to the plywood sheet on both sides.
-
4
Flip the board over and use a power drill to drive the screw into the wood. Put a screw 3/4 inch from the edge of the 2-by-4 and 1 1/2 inches from the side edge of the plywood top for the dirt board ramp.
-
5
Turn the board over and measure 16 inches from the center of the attached 2-by-4-inch board to mark the center of the next board. Follow the same directions as you did for the first board. Do this one more time so you now have three boards across the top plywood sheet.
-
6
Screw one of the 22 1/2-inch boards to the triangular side. Put the end in the corner with the 4-inch side along the 4-foot edge. Screw together. Secure the other side to the other side board in the same manner. This should allow you to sit the frame on the ground with the angle at the top.
-
7
Put the top on the frame with the 2-by-4-inch boards inserted between the side sheet plywood boards. Line up the first 2-by-4-inch board with the tall end of the ramp and screw in. Screw in all the boards going down the sides. You have one board left on the ground. This board is used for the bottom brace. Flip the ramp over and lay the remaining board in at the bottom. Place the board so the no edge is higher than the bottom of the ramp and it allows the ramp to sit flat when it is turned over. Screw in from the side. Flip the ramp over and start practicing.
