How to Make a BMX Grind Box
Things You'll Need
- One sheet 4x8 pressure treated plywood, 3/4 inch thick
- Five 2x4 pieces of lumber, 8 feet long
- Table saw or hand saw
- Wood glue
- Drill
- 92 2-inch wood screws
- Drill bit capable of drilling through metal
- Two 8-foot pieces of 2-inch wide angled steel, 1/4 inch thick
Instructions

1
Cut the 4x8 plywood into three sections: one piece 2x8 and two pieces 1x8. Cut the five 2x4 pieces of lumber into eighteen pieces that are 22 1/2-inches long.
-
2
Lay the 2x8 piece of plywood flat on the ground. Pour a generous line of wood glue on top of the plywood along each of the 8-foot sides, 1/2-inch from the edge. Stand the two pieces of 1x8 plywood perpendicular along the edges, directly in the wood glue. Add a bead of wood glue along both sides where the pieces of plywood meet. Allow the wood glue to dry (time is based on the type of glue you use). If you need to brace the sides (so they don't fall over while the glue is drying), you can place the base next to a wall and glue the sides one at a time.

3
Place one section of 2x4 (standing on the 2-inch edge) at the end of the 2x8 piece of plywood, in between the two upright pieces of plywood. Using a small drill bit, drill two starter holes through the side plywood pieces directly into each end of the 2x4, then connect the pieces with two wood screws per side. Repeat the procedure with eight more 2x4 pieces, placing them every foot along the large piece of plywood, ending with the last one at the opposite end.

4
Turn the box over completely and stand it on the narrow pieces of plywood. Place one 2x4 on the ground (standing on edge), between the ends of the small plywood pieces and repeat the wood screw process to attach the plywood to the 2x4. Attach eight more 2x4 braces between the pieces of plywood one foot apart, matching the upper braces.
-
5
Drill starter holes and screw two wood screws per upper brace through the top plywood piece, directly into the sides of the 2x4 braces. Be sure to embed all screws far enough into the wood so they do not stick above the surface of the plywood.
-
6
Drill six holes in each piece of angled steel, three on one flat surface and three on the other flat surface. Attach the angled steel to the 8-foot sides of the grind box using six screws per angle. Make sure to insert screws completely to be flush with the angled steel to make two smooth rail slides.
