Dirt Bike Trails in Virginia

Dirt bike trails in Virginia are geared towards the motocross (MX) and bicycle motocross (BMX) enthusiasts. These dirt bike trails range from a typical motocross track of just over one mile, to a turn track that provides little to no jumps. Many of the parks which provide dirt bike trails may offer on-site camping, open practices to non-members and free admission to motocross events for active members.

  1. Virginia Motorsports Park

    • Located in Petersburg, Virginia, the Virginia Motorsports Park is home to a motocross dirt track and a bicycle motocross track. The park provides open practice every Saturday for six hours unless otherwise noted. The park is closed every Monday and Tuesday, except for designated BMX practices or a scheduled event. Riders must be at least 16 years old and sign a minor waiver; adults are required to sign an adult waiver. Practice prices vary depending on the weekend and how many times you've visited the facility. The dirt tracks are open during the summer and winter months; the park does close due to extreme weather conditions.

    Halstead Motorsports

    • Halstead Motorsports, in Rocky Mount, Virginia, provides open practice on its tracks for both members and non-members. Three onsite tracks include a 1.2-mile motocross track, a turn track and a trail surrounded by woods. Tracks are open every Saturday and Sunday for five hours. Occasionally the track is open on Tuesday and Thursday; tracks will be closed in bad weather. Open year-round except during holidays, Halstead rents out tracks for parties and private training sessions.

    Lake Sugar Tree Motorsport Park

    • Situated in Axon, Virginia, the Lake Sugar Tree Motorsports Park offers organized open practice throughout the week. Practices are held Thursday, Saturday and Sunday; a daily or annual membership to the park is required in order to participate in the open practices. These membership cards are good for up to one year. The park will cancel practice due to a motocross event or bad weather. Visitors may rent out the entire track to a maximum of 20 guests; all riders must be members of the park. Riders must also be at least 16 years old and a guardian is required to be present for all riders under 18.
