Dirt Bike Trails in Houston

Dirt bikes are motorized, small motorcycles used for riding on rough, outdoor terrain and dirt trails. There are several dirt-bike trails in the Houston area, suitable for beginners and experienced riders. Riders pay a fee, which varies by location, and are able to use the trails for the day. Some locations offer lessons for inexperienced bikers.
  1. Sam Houston National Forest

    • Sam Houston National Forest is 50 miles north of Houston and is one of four national forests in Texas. According to the United States Department of Agriculture, the park features 85 miles of trails for multiple uses, including dirt biking. Dirt bikers must take care because they will be sharing the trails with hikers and horse riders. The park also offers camping, boating, wildlife viewing, picnicking and fishing. As of December 2010, bikers paid $5 a day for the use of trails if they pay at the trail stations or $25 for an annual pass at the park ranger station.

    Cornerstone Motocross Park

    • Cornerstone Motocross Park is designed for dirt bikes of all sizes and riders of all ages. There are Pee Wee trails for young riders, beginner trails, and pits, which are dirt trails riddled with hills for jumping and tricks, for advanced riders. Members of the Motocross Park pay a $5 annual membership cost as well as daily costs. As of December 2010, the daily cost of using the trail was $15 per person. Spectators pay $2 to watch, and vehicle camping cost $15. Adults are not allowed on the Pee Wee trails due to the potential dangers for minors and children who learning to ride. Minors must have a release form filled out by their parents to use the trails.

    Three Palms Extreme Sports

    • Three Palms Extreme Sports has four main trails, two Pee Wee trails for children, pit tracks and ramps. Classes are offered for beginners and advanced riders. The facility also features camping and fishing. Spectators are encouraged to check out the action on the trails. As of January 2011, an annual membership cost $61 and a daily pass cost $7. Spectators are charged $3.
