How to Make a Fast Go Kart

Go karts and racing have always fascinate people. It is pretty satisfying to know that you built something with your own hands that works and operates on its own.   • Large wooden plank (for floor of cart)
  • Graph paper
  • Tape measure
  • Round tubing
  • Small engine (CBR600RR is one of the fastest)
  • Sheet metal
  • Butterfly steering wheel
  • Go kart steering system
  • A seat of some kind
  • Quad tires with rear paddles and front razers

      When making a go kart, it is necessary to have plans for how it is going to work and what it looks like. There are some great free plans on the Internet, or you could design your own. Just remember, for the fastest kart, you will want the lightest weight kart possible, so be sure to use light materials.

      Using the wooden plank, assemble the base according to the specifications in your design plans. Attach the wheels and breaks at this point as well. Most go kart plans use round tubing for the frame of their kart.

      Depending on the type of engine used, and the design plans, the process of placing the engine will be different. However, the engine should always go in the very back of the kart. Attach the engine according to the specified directions.

      Using the go kart steering system and the butterfly steering wheel, install onto the kart. This step will vary as well with according to the different kart designs and specifications. Just be sure to follow all instructions to the letter, to avoid injuries.
