How to Do the FMX Cordova Trick

Freestyle Motocross or FMX is a variation of motocross in which motorcycle riders attempt to impress judges and receive the highest score performing jumps, stunts and tricks. The FMX trick called the Cordova is considered a pro trick. The move was invented by FMX rider Clifford Adoptante around 1997 and the Cordova has been modified throughout the years to make the trick even more challenging.

Instructions

    • 1

Place your feet under the handlebars. After you've ramped up into the air, you'll pop up quickly and stick your feet underneath your handlebars. This part of the move is similar to the FMX trick the Cliffhanger.

    • 2

Keep your hands on the handlebars. Unlike the Cliffhanger, you need to keep your hands on the handle bars before and after you get your feet into place.

    • 3

Arch your back. Also unlike the Cliffhanger, where you stand up and raise your hands, for a Cordova you're going to arch your back and bend over backwards as far back as you can. For best effect, try to get your knees as far over the top of the handlebars and your head as close to the motorcycle seat as possible.

    • 4

Get ready for landing. Once you've successfully completed the FMX Cordova trick and before you come crashing back to Earth, get repositioned on your motorcycle and prepare for landing.

Try variations. Since this trick has been around for awhile, there've been several variations both attempted and successfully completed. This includes the crowd (and judge) pleasing back flip Cordova, in which the rider completes the original move and then back flips on the bike while still in position.
