How to Make an Airsoft Rocket

Airsoft players use spring or pressure-powered plastic weapons to play war games, often outdoors. Airsoft guns are often manufactured to look like real weapons, adding to the excitement and realism of the game. If you want to increase your chances when storming an enemy base, you may wish to bombard them with rockets launched from a distance before moving in closer. Real rockets are generally self-powered, but to save money and time, a pneumatic launcher can be created for your airsoft rockets.

Instructions

    • 1

Cut the tire inner tube with the utility knife around air inlet. Leave about a1-inch diameter piece of rubber around the base of the air inlet so that you have some material to glue to the PVC.

    • 2

Drill a 1/4-inch hole near one end of the 4-foot PVC piece.

    • 3

Place the inner tube air inlet in the PVC tube, so that the air inlet sticks out of the end of the hole in the PVC.

    • 4

Put on the rubber gloves and spread epoxy around the inside of the hole in the PVC tube. Press the rubber around the air inlet to the PVC so that it forms an air tight bond.

    • 5

Spread epoxy on the end cap; place it over the end nearest the hole with the air inlet.

    • 6

Spread epoxy around the other end of the tube; press the ball valve over the end.

    • 7

Spread epoxy around one of the ends of the other PVC tube and press it into the other end of the ball valve. Wait for all of the epoxy to dry, for the length of time recommended by the instructions included with your epoxy.

    • 8

Cut off six inches of the pipe insulation with the utility knife.

    • 9

Wrap duct tape over the hole in the bottom of the insulation so that it forms a tube with a capped end.

    • 10

Cut three slits through the pipe insulation, up the sides. This piece will be the actual rocket. When you are ready to launch the rocket, hold the piece in your hands and pour plastic pellets down the open hole.

    • 11

Push the rocket into the open end of the PVC rocket launcher. Move the ball valve to the closed position. Attach the bike pump to the air intake valve and pump until you can feel that the tube is highly pressurized by having increased difficulty pumping. Aim the open end where you want to shoot the rocket. Fire by opening the ball valve.
