How to Switch Sole Plates on a Rollerblade DT5
Whether they're worn out from too many grinds or otherwise causing you trouble, the sole plates on Rollerblade DT5s are challenging to switch out. Despite appearances and contrasting colors, Down Town 5 sole plates are riveted on to the boot, making the replacement process harder than you might think.
Things You'll Need

1
Order replacement Down Town 5 sole plates, washers and T-nut screws.
-
2
Put the skates into the freezer to lower their temperature and prevent melting of the plastic as you drill into the skate.
-
3
At each point of attachment, drill carefully into the heads of the rivets to break each one. Be careful not to melt the surrounding plastic on the skate.
-
4
Change out the old sole plates for the replacements. Replace the washers and fasten the plates to the boot using a hex wrench and t-nuts. Aggressive Mall recommends buying "Razor/Remz mini allen bolts with mini allen t-nuts" for best results.
