1
Take the barrel off the rifle by removing the barrel clamps and two screws from the front of the rifle. Carefully lift the barrel off the stock.
-
2
Relieve spring tension on the rear sight with the clamp or vise. Remove the pin in the rear sight by tapping it with the punch. Use small pieces of paper to protect the metal surfaces from scratches. If the pin doesn't come out easily, readjust the clamp or vise. Loosen the clamp or vise -- and remove the rear sight -- when the pin is out. A leaf spring under the sight; keep it in place.
-
3
Align the scope-mount rail above the pin hole that held the rear sight. Keep the mount rail in place with the clamp or vise. Replace the pin. Install the mount with steps down.
-
4
Tighten the hose clamp around the mount rail and receiver body. The clamp must be an 1/8 inch from the step in the receiver. Use pieces of paper to protect the metal.
-
5
Cut off the excess clamp material with the tin snips. Leave an 1/8 to 1/4 inch of the clamp. Use this tail to remove the mount in the future.
-
6
Install the mount body over the mount rail and hose clamp. The mount body fits easily in place. Adjust the hose clamp forward or back if the mount body does not fit. Attach the mount body to the mount rail with the ten, No. 24 screws.
-
7
Attach the Weaver rail to the mount body with the eight, No. 32 screws.
-
8
Replace the barrel and secure it with the screws and clamp initially removed with the barrel. Attach the scope rings that came with your scope.
