ATV Trails to Ride nearest York, Pennsylvania

A number of All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV) trails are located around the state of Pennsylvania, within two hours' drive of the White Rose City of York. While some trails place restrictions on the use of ATVs, others offer unrestricted use allowing visitors free access with their quad bikes. ATV riders should note that their vehicles are not street-legal in Pennsylvania, so riders wanting to use their ATV must only use them on designated trails. Furthermore, ATV riders must be licensed and at least 16 years old.
  1. Doublin Gap Motocross Park

    • Located 63 miles by road from the city of York, the Doublin Gap Motocross Park is approximately an hour's drive away. The track is privately owned, and visitors wishing to make use of the trail can only pay in cash, as checks are no longer accepted. As of October 2010, the riding fee is $40 for non-members. Use of ATVs is restricted, however, to the use of "small quads," and are permitted only on the beginner's track. Doublin Gap regularly hosts organized events and races, so you are advised to call in advance if you want to use the trail. Free and ample parking is available, while guests can also camp in tents or stay in RVs free of charge.

    Harrisburg Motorcycle Club

    • The Harrisburg Motorcycle Club is situated 33 miles north of York, taking travelers around 40 minutes to reach by road. This privately-owned track is open all year round, and will cost non-members $40 in riding fees (as of October 2010). Visitors must be at least 16 years of age in order to ride the Harrisburg trail. ATV riders enjoy unrestricted access to the Harrisburg Motorcycle Club, with 120 acres of land for riders' perusal. Free and unrestricted parking is available to travelers at the trail, with space for large vehicles such as RVs, trucks and ATV trailers. Visitors can also pitch their tents or stay overnight in RVs for free.

    Sleepy Hollow Motocross Park

    • A journey from York to the Sleepy Hollow Motocross Park in Manheim, PA, takes approximately 40 minutes by road. Visitors to Sleepy Hollow can access the park for just $10 per person (as of October 2010), while children aged between six and 12 enjoy half price entry and those under the age of six gain free entry. Riding fees are set at $30 per rider, which is restricted to those aged 16 and over. Use of ATVs is restricted to the quad and youth tracks, but this still offers quad riders access to plenty of the park. Visitors should call before they visit the park, as they regularly host races and events meaning travelers will not be able to access the trail. Free parking and camping is available to riders.
