ATV Trails in Wilburn, AL

Wilburn is a small community in north central Alabama, north of Birmingham. This town, located in Cullman County, is located within an hour of several trails rated for all-terrain vehicles, also referred to as off-highway vehicles or off-road vehicles.
  1. Stony Lonesome OHV Park

    • The Stony Lonesome OHV Park in Cullman is less than a mile from Wilburn. This park, intended for OHVs, a designation that includes ATVs, is located on more than 1,450 acres of land. The first public OHV park of its kind in Alabama, Stony Lonesome is open seven days a week year-round. About 80 percent of its trails are rated for ATVs, and the rest are intended for motorcycles and horses. Occasionally the park offers special events, like nighttime rides and mountain bike races.

    Wilborn's ATV Trails

    • Wilborn's ATV Trails in Hanceville is about 20 miles from Wilburn. This ATV park has more than 100 trails ranging from amateur to professional through over 3,000 acres of rolling hills and valleys. Visitors to this ATV park can ride all day for a set fee -- $20 per vehicle in 2010. Passengers on vehicles are free on the weekends, but are subject to additional fees on holidays or special event weekends. Visitors can stay for the day or take advantage of RV hookups or camping availability for an additional fee.

    William B. Bankhead National Forest

    • ATV trails are available throughout the William B. Bankhead National Forest, the entrance of which is located about 40 miles from Wilburn. The ATV trail at the forest, called the Flint Creek Multiple-Use Trail, allows for state-licensed off-road vehicles, such as ATVs. Unlicensed ATVs are allowed on trails if they are 50 inches wide or slimmer. Because this is a multiple-use trail, riders are encouraged to exercise caution when riding, especially when cresting hills or rounding curves.

    The Ridge

    • The Ridge ATV park in Springville is about 50 miles from Wilburn. It has more than 30 miles of wide ATV trails, eight trial sections and a mud bog area. This ATV park is open for riding Friday through Sunday, and offers daily and annual passes for visitors. Annual memberships include Thursday riding. ATV riders at The Ridge are required to wear helmets, and riders under the age of 19 must have a release signed by both parents or guardians.
