Sproat Mountain Lookout
-
The Sproat Mountain Lookout is an official Ministry of Forests, Mines and Lands trail. It was formerly a fire lookout and has since become a popular destination for ATV riders. The trail to this historical site is located to the south of the city of Revelstoke and some road and trail maintenance is done by a local ATV club.
Mt McKenzie
-
Mt McKenzie is an ATV rider's paradise and is located to the southeast of the city of Revelstoke. In the winter, the mountain opens as a ski resort, and many of the connecting runs and cross-country trails become ATV trails during the summer months. The area is easily accessible from Revelstoke and there is a large network of trails on the mountain. Although the Revelstoke Mountain Resort does not officially open to ATV riders, the resort trails and surrounding areas remain popular for quad enthusiasts.
Mt McKinnon
-
Mt McKinnon, located south east of Revelstoke, was once a mining site. ATV riders can take their quads to the base of the mountain and explore the abandoned mine sites in the area. There are many old roads left from the previous mining operations and these are now popular trails for ATV riders. Notable landmarks and locations include the Teddy Glacier Mine, Fish River and Trout Lake.
Other Trails
-
Many forest service roads maintained by the Ministry of Forests, Lands and Mines are popular with ATV riders. However, many of these roads are still used by logging operations in the area, so riders must be careful to watch for vehicles and logging trucks. Many forest service roads have sign-in sheets at their entrances so that truckers are aware of who is on the road at the same time they are. This makes riding safer and reduces the risk of colliding with another vehicle.
