How to Paint Your Longboard

Though you may associate skateboarding with stunts, those skaters who ride longboards aren't focused on tricks at all. A longboard skateboard is used for taking long cruises down smooth, hilly roads. Most longboards come with a design or pattern on the bottom, but some of them do not. If you have a longboard, you can learn how to paint the bottom of your board in a few easy steps.

Remove your trucks and wheels. Skateboard-manufacturing companies have designed a tool known as the skate tool that can remove any nut or bolt on a skateboard. This minimizes the amount of tools you need to carry when skateboarding and makes maintenance much more efficient. Using a skate tool, remove the trucks and wheels located on the underside of your longboard by turning all of the nuts and bolts counterclockwise. Then, place them to the side.

Spray your base color. Because the aerosols in spray paint are unhealthy for your lungs, it is recommended that you use spray paint outdoors. To begin painting your longboard, choose a base color that you want to use as the background to your paint design. Spray a thick coat and make sure that the spray paint is evenly distributed across the board. Let the paint dry for a few hours.

Apply your design. Using several other spray paint colors, paint your main design. You may want to use painter's tape to lay out your design and block off sections of your board for certain colors. Let your pattern dry for a few hours before you ride your newly designed longboard skateboard.
