RipStik Facts

While similar to the skateboard, the RipStik is a caster board. It moves more like a snowboard or surfboard. It was a top seller during the 2008 Christmas season and has a unique construction and riding technique.
  1. Specifications

    • The RipStik is made by Razor USA with two wheels that spin 360 degrees. Unlike a solid skateboard, the deck is made of two independently moving concave plates connected by a center bar.

    How to Ride

    • The RipStik starts, turns and accelerates without having to push off from the ground. The rider simply mounts and pivots or twists the deck plates. This can create a carving motion.

    Safety Concerns

    • Because it is a moving object, there are safety issues involved with the RipStik. No child under 8 years old and nobody weighing more than 220 lbs. should ride. The rider should wear a helmet and elbow and knee pads as well as athletic shoes. Any terrain that may cause the front wheel to stop suddenly should be avoided.
