How to Fall off a Longboard

Perhaps more than any other piece of equipment, the longboard signifies extreme sports. Longboards are built like regular skateboards, only much longer in size, as the name suggests. Longboards are not meant for jumps and flips, but for high-speed cruising around cities and going up and down ramps. Because of the high velocity you can attain on a longboard, learning how to fall properly is crucial for protecting your body. No matter how skilled you are on a longboard, at some point you are going to fall on pavement.

Instructions

    • 1

Crouch down if you feel yourself losing your balance on a longboard. This will reduce the distance of your fall, especially for your head. Tuck your arms in if you feel a fall is inevitable to avoid landing on your hands and breaking your wrists.

    • 2

Relax your body as much as possible. Remaining stiff when falling can lead to more serious injury.

    • 3

Land on a fleshy part of your body if you can. Try to fall on your backside. Do not fall on your knees or arms.

    • 4

Roll with the fall if possible, especially if you are wearing a helmet. Get low and tumble in motion.
