How to Troubleshoot a Timex Fitness HRM

The Timex Fitness HRM allows you to not only keep track of how long you exercise, but also how hard you are working. It combines a sport watch with a chest sensor to monitor your heart rate. You can track your average heart rate, check how many calories you have burned and be notified if you have reached a preset target heart rate. To do all this, the Timex Fitness HRM will need to function properly, which may require some troubleshooting.

Instructions

    • 1

Wear both the watch and heart rate sensor together to make sure they are close enough to transmit data. They will not function properly if the watch and sensor are more than 3 feet apart.

    • 2

Check the watch's display to determine if its battery is low. The Indiglo night-light and the digital numbers of the clock will appear dim. Bring the watch to a local Timex retailer or jewelry store to have the battery replaced, as recommended by the manufacturer.

    • 3

Rinse the sensor with water to prevent any buildup of dirt that will interfere and cause it not to function properly.

    • 4

Firmly fasten the sensor for the heart rate monitor on your chest, with the Timex logo facing out. Adjust the strap so the sensor sits just below the breast bone and is centered on the chest. The sensor cannot transmit heart rate data if it is not correctly in place.

    • 5

Replace the sensor's battery if it is not transmitting data properly. Insert a coin into the slot on the battery lid, located on the back of the sensor, and turn the lid counterclockwise. Remove the old battery and replace it with a new CR2032 battery. The "+" symbol on the battery should face out. Press the "Reset" button in the lower left corner with a toothpick. Replace the cover, turning it clockwise with a coin to tighten it.
