1
Use the pen or pencil or other writing utensil to draw a line on the ground. Stand with your feet together with the back of your feet resting even on the line. Begin walking in a normal motion and take 10 strides. A stride is two steps, one with each leg.
-
2
Stop after 10 strides and use the writing utensil to make a line where you stopped. The line should be where your toes are, not where your heels are. Use the measuring tape to measure the distance between the two lines. Write down the distance to the nearest inch or centimeter and then divide that number by 10.
-
3
Press any of the buttons on the front of the Digi-Walker 170 to turn it on. Wait for the screen to turn on and display a number. Press the "Mode" button until the arrow on the screen is under the word "Distance." When this occurs, press the "Set" button, and "Stride" will appear on the screen.
-
4
Press the "Set" button again to increase the stride length until you reach the number that you recorded. Each time you press the "Set" button, the number will increase by 3 inches and 1 cm. You will see both numbers on the screen. When the number matches your number, or as close as you can get, let the device sit without pressing a button for a few seconds.
-
5
Wait for the device to return to the main screen. When it does, your stride length will be automatically saved and will be reflected in your results when you start to use the Digi-Walker 170.
