  1. Design

    • The Polar FS1 has an oval face with a large display screen. The only control button is on the face of the watch, below the display. It runs on a CR2025 lithium watch battery, which has a standard life of two years. The digits on the display are large, making them easy to read even when you are walking or running. The FS1 is water-resistant up to 50 meters or 165 feet.

    Specifications

    • The Polar FS1 has a heart-rate measuring range between 15 and 240 beats per minute. The accuracy of the monitor is plus or minus one beat per minute when you are exercising at a consistent pace. The FS1 may not be as accurate if you are doing interval training where your workout intensity changes constantly throughout the workout. The included chest strap weighs 1.5 ounces and fits chests between 35 and 55 inches in circumference. The transmitter battery has an approximate lifespan of 2,500 hours.

    Features

    • The Polar FS1 heart-rate monitor allows you to set heart-rate limits. Symbols on the display tell you if you are within your target zone or higher or lower than your target zone. You can also turn on an audible alarm to warn you when you are outside of your target heart-rate zone. The FS1 includes the heart touch feature. Pull the wrist monitor near the chest strap and the monitor will cycle through your current heart rate, exercise duration and time of day. Pull the monitor away from the chest strap to stay on the current display.

    Other Features

    • The FS1 heart-rate monitor also includes watch, stopwatch and a memory feature. The stopwatch automatically starts when you enter the exercise mode to start a new workout. The memory stores your average heart rate and exercise duration of your last session. When you start a new session, the new data replaces the old data. The main display shows the time in either 12- or 24-hour format. The FS1 does not display the date.
