1
Find the maximum diameter of the balance ball. The maximum diameter indicates how tall the ball is while resting on the floor. This information is printed on the ball, and is sometimes near the ball's plug.
-
2
Mark the maximum diameter, or height of the ball on a nearby wall with a pencil. Use a measuring tape or ruler to find and mark the height.
-
3
Remove the balance ball's plug from the hole. The plug prevents the air from seeping out of the ball.
-
4
Place the balance ball on the ground. Insert the tip of the ball pump into the ball's hole.
-
5
Inflate the ball with a hand or electric pump. Pay attention to the mark on the wall. Fill the balance ball to 80% of the maximum height. Reinsert the ball plug. Allow the ball to sit 24 hours at this capacity.
-
6
Sit on the ball and place your feet flat on the ground. Your knees and hips should form a 90-degree angle.
-
7
Remove the ball plug and refill the balance ball the remaining 20 percent until it has reached maximum capacity. Allow the ball to sit for 24 hours.
-
8
Sit on the ball and place your feet flat on the floor. Your knees and hips must form a 90-degree angle when the ball is correctly inflated.
