Instructions

    • 1

Clean and repair your backyard before you begin jogging. Remove any debris so you won't trip, and fill in any large holes so you don't sprain your ankle or fall while jogging.

    • 2

Pick a jogging path. You can jog the perimeter of your backyard, from one end to the other or diagonally.

    • 3

Decide how long you're going to jog, or how many laps you're going to do around your backyard. Wear some headphones and listen to music while you jog, just like you would if you were on a treadmill or jogging around your neighborhood.

    • 4

Combine jogging with sprinting for a more intense workout. Jog for one minute and then sprint for 30 seconds. Go back to jogging for one minute and then sprint again. Continue the jogging and running intervals for the duration of your workout.

    • 5

Jog around your backyard with your dog. If your dog enjoys fetch, throw him the ball while you jog, and you'll both get a workout.

    • 6

Mix up your jogging routine by adding some obstacles or changing the way you jog around the backyard. Jog while you kick a soccer ball, jump over hurdles, jog backwards or line up inflatable tubes to jog through, like an obstacle course.

Make good use of a backyard swimming pool by jogging in the pool. This is especially good for people who suffer from back or knee problems. Jog around the shallow end of the pool, or from one side to the other.
