How to Move Faster Without Running

1
Sport a pair of running or walking shoes for your on-foot transit wherever you go and then slip back into a pair of dress shoes or pumps once you arrive at your destination. A good pair of padded heel socks will also help you gain traction on the ground and speed walk without running to cut down on foot transit times.

2
Speed walk through your day by taking longer strides and swinging your arms as you walk. Part of a successful speed walking style is carrying a comfortable backpack that allows your body to move more naturally and freely, thereby gaining you time against the ground.
-
3
Pull your shoulders back and straighten your torso so that your body, from your chin to your toes, forms a straight line. You may have to be conscious of this since the body tends to relax back into a slowed down, hunched over posture that costs you precious walking seconds throughout the day.
-
4
Keep your head up and your eyes forwards since focusing on the ground or on other people or things you pass by will definitely slow you down. If you're concerned about bumping into something on the ground, don't be. Your peripheral vision will pick up obstacles and you'll avoid them naturally once you start to speed walk or walk briskly with more confidence.

5
Get some faster transportation such as rollerblades or a fold-up push scooter that allow you to make use of rolling to get you where you need to go. Biking is also a great way to move faster without running but it doesn't afford you the kind of super-mobility that rollerblades and fold-up scooters do.
