1
Replace lost fluids immediately when a cramp strikes. Drink water or electrolyte-enhanced sports drinks to help replenish the fluid your body has lost through sweat. Prevent dehydration in the first place by drinking at least 16 oz. of water before physical activity and then drink between 5 and 12 oz. every 15 to 20 minutes during exercise.

2
Stretch the affected muscle and gently massage it to help break up the tension and contraction of the cramp. This helps to dissipate the pain.
-
3
Take an non-steroidal anti-inflammation drug to help reduce swelling, inflammation or pain caused by the muscle cramp. Use an over-the-counter pain medication with anti-inflammatory or pain relieving properties to help with the recovery of the cramp.
