1
Press the "Mode" button, located on the right-side of the pedometer to determine whether the device is set for miles or kilometers. If the device is set to the wrong unit of measure, press the "Mode" button again until "Step" is displayed on the screen. Hold the "Mode" button until the correct unit is displayed on the screen, then release the "Mode" button.
-
2
Walk 10 steps using your normal stride, then measure the distance covered with the tape measure.
-
3
Divide the total distance covered in your 10 steps by 10 to determine your average stride length. For example, if you walked 360 inches, divide 360 by 10 to determine that your average stride length is 36 inches.
-
4
Press the "Mode" button until "Distance Mode" is displayed on the screen, then press the "Set" button.
-
5
Press the "Reset" button until the correct number of inches in your average stride are displayed. Each time that the "Reset" button is pressed, the number of inches will increase by 1. Holding the "Reset" button will rapidly increase the number. For example, if your average stride length is 36 inches, press the "Reset" button 36 times until "36" is displayed on the screen.
-
6
Wait five seconds after the correct length is displayed. After five seconds, the screen will flash, indicating that your settings have been saved. Your pedometer is now configured and ready for use.
