How Do I Set the Kathy Smith Lifestyle Pedometer?

The Kathy Smith Lifestyle Pedometer is included with the Kathy Smith "Walking for Fitness" Kit to track users' steps, walking distance and burned calories as they exercise. In order for the pedometer to work correctly, however, it needs to be programmed with the user's weight and the length of her stride. The Kathy Smith pedometer operates similarly to most other pedometers on the market, so individuals who have used pedometers in the past will be familiar with the functionality of the device.

Instructions

    • 1

Weigh yourself on a scale to obtain your accurate weight.

    • 2

Determine your estimated stride length by measuring the distance between the toes of each foot while you are in mid step. Repeat this measurement three or four times to ensure that the readings are the same, or similar, each time.

    • 3

Locate the "Set" button and the "Mode" button on your Kathy Smith Lifestyle Pedometer. There is also a "Reset" button which resets all data saved in the pedometer except for time, weight and stride length.

    • 4

Press the "Mode" button to access the Weight, Clock and Stride Length modes. Select the mode you want to enter by pressing the "Mode" button repeatedly until the desired category displays on the screen.

    • 5

Press the "Set" button to enter your weight, the time or your stride length in the selected mode. You can increase or decrease the numbers by pressing the "Set" button and the "Reset" button, respectively.

    • 6

Select the "Mode" button to save the data and exit to another mode.
