How to Measure Your Pectorals

There are many exercises that can be performed to develop the pectoral muscles, from bench presses to cable exercises to push-ups. And one of the most accurate ways to chart the progress of your workouts is through measuring the pectoral muscles. Thankfully, it is a simple process, and with only a little effort you can focus on improving the strength and size of your chest while charting your progress accurately.

      Wrap the measuring tape around your chest and under your arms just above nipple level. Read the measurement and make note of it in your exercise notebook.

      Complete one month of an exercise routine that includes chest exercises, such as bench presses or push-ups, at least twice a week.

      Remeasure your pectoral muscles and chest with the measuring tape after one month. Record this measurement in your exercise book and compare it to your beginning measurement.
