How to Take a Ski Doo Carburetor Apart

Taking a Ski Doo carburetor apart requires a little bit of patience. The Ski Doo uses a Tillotson carburetor that is fastened to the motor with bolts and requires that you disconnect the throttle cable and fuel line from the carburetor to remove the unit. There are a number of small parts inside the carburetor that you need to be aware of when taking the plates and covers off the carburetor.

      Open the cover to the Ski Doo motor and disconnect the fuel line from the Tillotson carburetor with an open-end wrench. Disconnect the throttle cable from the carburetor by unfastening the clip with needle nose pliers.

      Unfasten the bolts that are securing the carburetor to the motor with a socket wrench and remove the carburetor from the motor. Remove the fuel strainer from the base of the carburetor with a screwdriver and take off the bottom plate of the carburetor with the screwdriver.

      Unscrew all the screws that fasten the cover plates to the carburetor with a screwdriver and remove the plates and gaskets. Remove all the needles and springs from the carburetor and set them aside.
