How to Winterize a 2001 Polaris Virage

Remove the 2001 Polaris Virage from the water. Whether you put it on a trailer or use a dock lift, remove it from the water so you can work on the exterior.

Wash the exterior of the Virage using a bucket of hot water and a mild detergent. Scrub the exterior, ensuring that any algae, grime and water stains are removed from the surface. Use the same mixture to clean the seat, controls and dashboard of the Virage. Dry the surface of and apply a coat of wax to the surface before storing it.

Add a bottle of fuel stabilizer to a full tank of gas, as per the instructions on the bottle. Run the engine a few times in half-minute intervals to ensure the fuel with the stabilizer is mixed through the fuel system.

Disconnect the battery and remove it from the engine compartment. Store the battery in warm, dry area. You can attach it to a small trickle charger for the winter season if desired.

Remove the spark plugs and air filter from the engine compartment, and add a small amount of winterizing spray or fogging oil to the carburetors and cylinders through the spark plug receptacles.

Place a cover over the 2001 Polaris Virage and ensure it is tied down tightly. This will not only protect your Virage from the elements, but also will prevent small animals from nesting in it.
