Multitool Instructions

A multitool is a pocket sized toolbox that is conveniently packaged in a folding design. Manufactured by several different companies, a multitool is a useful addition to the gear you carry for outdoor recreational activities. Multitools are useful for utilitarian tasks around the camp, as well as more extreme emergency survival situations. Become familiar with the tools on a multitool and how to use them so you will be prepared when it comes time to use them.

Instructions

    • 1

Access the pliers of the multitool. Grasp the two sides of the tool with your hands and fold them down to reveal the pliers jaws. Continue folding the sides down to form the handles. Grip the handles and grip bolts, nuts and other objects with the jaws.

    • 2

Place the wire cutters located at the base of the jaws around a piece of electrical or fence wire. Hold the multitool firmly and squeeze the handles together to cut the wire.

    • 3

Access the knife blade of the multitool. Pull the blade open from one handle until it locks into the open position. Close the pliers first, based on the model, so that the knife blade and other tools are accessible. The design of some multitools requires that you fold the handles into the carry position to access the tools.

    • 4

Use the knife blade to cut, slice and carve a variety of objects including food, wood and string. Close the blade and open the wood saw to cut larger pieces of wood such as would be used for kindling.

    • 5

Access the flat-head or Phillips-head driver on the multitool. Open the driver until it locks into place. Place the tip of the driver into the slot on the screw head and turn to tighten or loosen the screw as needed.
