How to Convert a Trailblazer to a Tent

Increase your living space when camping by converting your Trailblazer into a tent, combining your rugged vehicle with a nylon tent living room. Various brand SUV tents can accommodate the Chevy Trailblazer and follow the same basic instructions. Waterproof floors, weather-resistant walls and a sturdy frame keep you and your gear comfortable and dry when out on your camping adventure. SUV tents can sleep up to six people, while two additional people can sleep in the Trailblazer cargo area. The tent can also stand alone if you need to drive away from your campsite for any reason.

Instructions

    • 1

Unroll your tent body and spread it out on a smooth, level campsite with the door facing the same side as the Trailblazer's driver's side door. Fully extend all tent and awning poles.

    • 2

Slide the tent poles through the sleeves on the top of the tent, crossing the poles in the tent center. Slide the awning pole through the remaining pole sleeve that goes from side to side.

    • 3

Place one end of a tent pole onto the corresponding metal pin at the corner base of the tent. Arc the pole to insert a pin into the opposite end of the pole. Repeat for the other tent pole. Slide both ends of the awning pole into the corresponding pole pockets at the base of the tent.

    • 4

Fasten the plastic clips from the tent body to the tent poles to secure the frame.

    • 5

Locate the zipper around the window to the left of the tent door. Zip the tent sock onto the zipper. Open the hatch on the back of the Trailblazer. Place the tent sock over the hatch.

    • 6

Hook the straps from the tent sock to the bottom of the corresponding wheel wells. Attach the longer top straps to the roof of the Trailblazer. Pull the straps tight to secure them in place.

    • 7

Stake the tent with the tent pegs at each corner to secure.
