Plan the wall. Consider the arrangement of the room and the need for sufficient space, including a crash pad, while climbing. A flat wall is the simplest place to begin as angles may be added later if more challenge is desired.

2
Using a stud finder, locate the studs of the bedroom wall. These will be the point at which the plywood will be attached to the wall. The plywood sheet measurements will correspond to the spacing of the wall studs. Use the tape measure to mark the exact location of the studs to help in attaching the 2-by-4s to the wall frame.

3
With the circular saw, cut the 2-by-4 lumber to length, forming a frame on which the plywood will be mounted. Secure with bolts or screws. Double-check the dimensions of the frame frequently to ensure the 2-by-4 lumber will not extend past the plywood edges.

4
Drill holes in the plywood into which the holds will be mounted. T-nuts will be tapped into the holes from the back. These will accept the bolts from the holds. A tip is to drill a pattern of holes and install a nut into each one. This will allow the user to change the climbing pattern periodically.

5
Paint or finish the wall. There are many options here, and since this will be in a bedroom there will be a need for a finished surface. For example, in a boy's room a simple mat gray or brown paint may suffice. There are also textured finishes made especially for walls that add an extra dimension. For a girl's room there may be a desire to add additional colors such as shades of grays, purples and pinks in natural patterns.

6
Attach the plywood wall to the frame with wood screws or lag bolts, making sure it is secure. Install the holds with supplied bolts, which tighten into the T-nuts. Place a crash pad at the bottom of the wall and enjoy.
